Prosenjit Chatterjee was born on September 30, 1962, is a Bengali Actor,Director and Producer. His fans called him Bumba Da (in Bengal, da means giving respect to somebody). He is the only son of Biswajeet who was also a very popular star of Hindi Cinema in 1960s. In rural Bengal, he is known as Poshenjit. He has ruled the Bengali film world for over two decades now.

Prosenjit made his debut at only 4 years of age in his father's Chhoto Jignasa which was a big hit and his performance was greatly appreciated. He made his debut as hero in Duti Pata in 1983 which was a teenage romance similar to the Hindi film Bobby.
In 2003, he worked with Rituparno Ghosh in Choker Bali, which co-starred Aishwarya Rai.

He has worked in numerous films that have gained him critical acclaim. In 2007, he received the National Award Silver Lotus for his role in Dosar. He has acted in more than 300. Bengali feature films till date as hero for the past 30 years.

Although he has not made a prominent impact on the Bollywood industry, he has tasted success in regional cinema where his talent is recognized and appreciated. less
